Associate Professor of English
Elmar Hashimov researches and teaches writing, philology, rhetoric, digital literacy and film. Hashimov鈥檚 work seeks to bridge the classical liberal arts tradition and current empirical research. His focus areas include genre studies, classical rhetoric, ethics of technology, activity theory, qualitative research methods, and European and (post-)Soviet literature and cinema. He also directs the Rhetoric & Writing Center and helps coordinate writing across the curriculum. Hashimov鈥檚 scholarly and creative work appears in a variety of peer-reviewed and popular publications, such as Technical Communication Quarterly, The Atlantic, and 99% Invisible.
